Parker, CO
GUYS, I’m in my emotions, so bear with me, I’m going real deep today. (no, this long post is not AI, but it would have better punctuation if it was.) 😜
One of our most loyal customers just visited his 25th hurts donut location. I don’t have the words to describe what this means to me. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude that someone would have that kind of love for something we created.
Some people see a colorful building with fun donuts inside of it. They don’t know about the 30 hour shifts, the nights I had to sleep in my car for just an hour because there was so much left to do. The risks, the sacrifices, and the hope that something you’ve poured your heart into might matter to someone.
There’s a person behind the colorful building… (that sounds creepy. I’m not crouching behind the building.) 😜😜
What I mean is, my soul lives inside that colorful building and the customers that come in that door mean something to me. They mean more to me than you could ever know.
In honor of the customers that I love so much, here is my “SO LOYAL IT HURTS” shoutout, to a few people whose support have made a lasting impact on me. I didn’t know any of these individuals before we opened the store, (they are probably not even expecting to show up on our page!) There are hundreds more I could mention, but today I wanted to celebrate just a few people that have a forever space in my heart.
Andrew and Rita Jens - Have officially checked 25 Hurts Donut locations off their list! Years ago, I started seeing their names pop up in the comments pretty regularly. One day, when I was sick at home, I pulled up the cash register remotely. The transaction on my screen was a familiar name from Facebook. I saw live that Andrew was purchasing 3 shirts, so I messaged him on Facebook to thank him! It was so fun to learn that they were wearing our shirts with a group of friends bowling!! There’s something special about seeing people proudly support something you pour your heart into. Andrew and Rita drive to Springfield often to get a donut fix. That kind of faithfulness is a gift, and it’s never lost on us.
Victor Hernandez - 12 years ago, Victor was a stranger that strolled into the store. He was one of our very first customers. True story: Victor, a very loyal customer, reached out with a complaint. I recognized his name immediately as one of our regulars. I am devastated anytime we miss the mark or make a mistake. I was in a desperate panic to make it right. Guests that walk in our doors are not just customers, they’re the heartbeat of our business. What a blessing that he accepted our apology and continued showing up for us in such a powerful way. Years later, I wanted to share this interaction with our franchisees. It was important for me to show store owners the impact of making something right, when you’ve made a mistake and How we not only salvaged that relationship but we turned him into family and he’s been one of our greatest supporters to this day. Victor was actually invited to (and attended) our Hurts Donut franchise conference so we could introduce him to all of the Hurts Donut owners in the company!! Thank you for being part of our story Victor. We are so grateful for you.
Philip Ross - Pictures of Philip in our store, with his smiling children, go WAY BACK!! I love seeing his name pop up in our notifications. He has a way of making my day brighter every time he comments!! Whether it’s encouragement, excitement, or just sharing in the fun, his comments never go unnoticed. Customers like Philip are the reason twelve years can feel like a blink of an eye. Thank you for cheering us on, supporting us, and sharing so many memories with us over the years. We appreciate you and your family more than you know.
Drew Perry - Drew doesn’t live in Springfield, but we still feel his presence through his constant encouragement and his support every chance he gets. Along the way, Drew developed a dairy allergy and had to say goodbye to regular donuts but thankfully not to Hurts. These days, he’s enjoying our dairy free options, and his support has never skipped a beat. I even saw a post where he drove more than three hours just to come see us! People often think of customers as transactions, but some become part of the story. Drew’s kindness, loyalty, and continued encouragement have meant more than he probably realizes. It’s people like Drew who remind us why we do what we do.
Steve and Linda Williams - Steve and Linda Williams are true OGs! They go all the way back to the Park Central West days. Steve has always been known for his legendary beard, but Linda might be even more legendary. (Sorry Steve.) Despite being one of the sweetest and most dignified ladies you’ll ever meet, she has somehow become the willing participant in one of my favorite Hurts traditions… letting me toss donut holes into her mouth from across the room. Some customers become regulars. Some become family. Steve and Linda have been part of the Hurts story for so long that it’s hard to imagine it without them.
Rebel Trinkler is a loyal commenter, donut truck chaser, and one of those customers who feels familiar long before you ever meet them in person. She doesn’t live in Springfield, but I knew exactly who she was the first time I saw her at the Emergency Donut Vehicle. I remember thinking, “Wait… I know you from Facebook!” We snapped a picture together, and to this day, I’m still honored that I’m in her profile picture. If there’s a Hurts fundraiser or donut truck anywhere near her neck of the woods, there’s a good chance Rebel will be one of the first people in line. And sometimes “near” is a very loose term. We’ve had the pleasure of seeing her recently in De Soto, Park Hills, Festus, and Potosi. What started as Facebook comments turned into real-life, and that’s one of the coolest parts of what we get to do. Thanks for always cheering us on, Rebel.
Megan Berryessa - Megan Berryessa is a bodybuilder, so we don’t get to see her nearly as often as we’d like. But somehow that makes every visit a little more special. When you’ve spent months training, measuring, sacrificing, and staying disciplined, it means a lot that she chooses Hurts when it’s finally time for a well earned treat. After her competition in Pittsburgh, Megan came to us with a vision for the ultimate post-show donut box. Every flavor, topping, and detail came straight from her imagination, and it was an absolute honor to help bring those donut dreams to life. We’re proud to be part of the celebration after all the hard work. Megan, we appreciate you and we’ll always be here for cheat day.
Robin Gates Rader Farthing is one of those people whose name has become instantly familiar over the years. I can’t point to one specific moment or one unforgettable story. Instead, it’s simpler than that. Robin has been a steady presence on Facebook for a very long time! Liking, commenting, encouraging, and showing up again and again. When you run a business, there are people whose names you start recognizing because they’re always there, cheering you on from the sidelines. Robin is one of those people. It’s doesn’t have to be big gestures, just consistent support over the years means so much to us. Thank you, Robin, for being one of those people who has quietly and faithfully rooted for us along the way. We appreciate your kindness.
To all of our dedicated team members, franchise owners and loyal customers, near and far, thank you for making Hurts Donut what it is today. Thank you for the the late nights full of so much laughter, the road trips, the encouragement, the friendships, and the memories. We wouldn’t be here without you, and we’ll never stop being grateful for the role you’ve played in our story. It’s such an honor to be loved by you.

Join us in supporting a local child living with a rare and extremely painful medical condition. After exhausting available treatment options in the United States, the family is now pursuing specialized care that offers new hope for her future.
Because the treatment, travel expenses, and extended medical stays are not covered by insurance, the family is facing more than $85,000 in out of pocket costs. We’re hoping to come together as a community to help lighten that burden and support sweet Harper on her journey.
Thank you for helping us spread the word!!

ASHLAND MO!! WE ARE LOOKING FOR A SPACE TO HOST A COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER THIS FRIDAY!!
This visit will benefit a local child with a very painful, rare condition. They have exhausting treatment options here in the United States, and need to raise $85,000 to pursue specialized medical care. Unfortunately, the treatment, travel, and extended medical stays are not covered by insurance, leaving the family with an overwhelming financial burden.
We will be donating 100% of the sales from a special tribute donut and 10% of all Hurts Dozen and glazed dozen sales.
Due to the weather, we are hoping to host this fundraiser indoors, to keep everyone out of the rain.
Looking for suggestions or invitations to set up inside a local building. This would require a building with a large parking lot, that would allow us to sell donuts for Harper, inside!
The more engagement our post gets the more we will bring!! Thank you for your support and helping us spread the word!!
We’re honored to help support Harper and her family as they fight for answers, relief, and hope. Your heartfelt purchase helps us raise funds to bring them one step closer to the care Harper needs.
